- that you have satisfied all academic requirements of your program/s, or will satisfy the academic requirements when results are released in the current semester/session; and
- that you have settled all obligations with ANU (fees, fines, Unique Student Identifier etc.).
If you intend to make any changes to your enrolment (for example, drop a course) after census date, you should contact your ANU Academic College beforehand to check if it will affect your eligibility to graduate.
Results for non-standard sessions (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring) may not be available in time for the upcoming conferrals.
Transfer to Masters: Postgraduate students completing a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma should seek academic advice before graduating.
Transferring to a Masters is a straightforward application with no fee and credit can be requested at the same time. Conferring a lower award may affect credit applied to the new academic program. Please seek academic advice from your College prior to conferral if you intend to continue study.
Potential Graduands
In the first stage of eligibility assessment, you will be notified via your ANUHub Message Board if you have been identified as a potential graduand. If you do not have this message, and believe you are eligible to Confer, you should contact your ANU Academic College immediately.
The message should appear in ANUHub:
- July Conferral Session - May
- December Conferral Session - October
Assessments of eligibility to graduate will occur throughout April and May for the July Conferral session, and throughout October and November for the December Conferral session.
Preliminary Eligibility to Confer
Following ANU Academic College assessment of all potential graduands, your eligibility status will be viewable via your ANUHub account.
Your eligibility status will be one of the following:
Approved
You have met all of the requirements for your award/s.
Conditionally Approved
Your eligibility to Confer depends on the successful completion of courses in the current semester/session.
If you are assessed as 'conditionally approved' and the conditions are not met (such as failing a course, supplementary or deferred assessment required, or a delay in receiving results), or you have outstanding obligations to the University, then your Conferral status will change to 'Not Eligible'.
Not Eligible
You have not met eligibility requirements by the end of the current Conferral session/session.
If you are 'not eligible' to Confer due to late or unresolved grades, you will not be eligible to graduate in the current session. Please note, if you are appealing a fail result, you will not be permitted to Confer unless the appeal can be resolved at least five days prior to the Conferral date.
Conferral Guide Communications
If you have been 'approved' or 'conditionally approved' (pending your final semester/session results) to Confer in the upcoming Conferral session, you will receive a Conferral Guide via your ANU email account from the Graduation Office and the Graduation Invitation/Graduation Details Panel in ANUHub will be unlocked to students.
It is strongly recommended that student read the Conferral Guide as this will have all the instructions and information regarding Conferral processes.
Conferral Guide correspondence will be emailed to potential graduands approximately:
- July Conferral session - late May/early June
- December Conferral session - late October/early November
**Only students who intend to Defer their Conferral are required to respond to the invitation panel in ANUHub.
All other eligible students will be automatically Conferred in the Conferral session once their eligibility has been approved by their College.**
Students who have previously deferred their Conferral, and all HDR students, will not see the Potential Graduand message in ANUHub, but will receive an email with Conferral Guide.
If you dispute your graduation status, please contact your ANU Academic College immediately.
Graduation Ceremony Communications
Conferral is the formal process by which your Award is officially granted by the University.
It represents the official date of your award, as recorded on your academic record and graduation documents.
Once your award has been conferred, your official graduation documents, your Testamur (certificate), Academic Transcript, and Â鶹´«Ã½AV Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS), are produced and released.
These documents confirm your completion, qualification, and eligibility to use your Award title.
This is separate from the Graduation Ceremony event, which is a celebration for all students who have had their Award Conferred during the year.
Separate communications will be sent to all Conferred students of the current year with details about the upcoming Graduation Ceremony and how to register to attend.
