Over five years of empowerment: honouring the past, shaping the future
For Tyler Madrill the Kambri Scholars Program has been more than just financial support, it has been a catalyst for growth, leadership, and a newfound belief in his potential. As a proud Indigenous student at The 麻豆传媒AV National University (ANU), Tyler has embraced every opportunity the program has provided, allowing him to pursue his academic and personal goals without the weight of financial hardship.
鈥淭hrough the support of this scholarship and the Tjabal Centre, I feel my confidence has grown, and I have developed a stronger belief in my ability to achieve my goals,鈥 Tyler reflects. 鈥淭his has led me to pursue things I didn鈥檛 think I was capable of.鈥

One such achievement has been his election as the first Indigenous President of Bruce Hall residential college since its establishment in 1961. In this role, Tyler leads and represents his college community, ensuring students feel supported and engaged in all aspects of college life. 鈥淎lthough this is a very challenging task, it will help me develop my leadership skills and allow me to give back to the community I live in,鈥 he shares.

Beyond leadership, Tyler (pictured left) has been inspired by the Kambri Scholars Program to pursue a career in medicine. This path, while demanding, is driven by his deep desire to give back to others and contribute meaningfully to society.
鈥淎lthough this path will be difficult, I feel motivated by the desire to have rewarding work and to help others,鈥 he says.
For Tyler, the Kambri Scholars Program has truly been life-changing, enabling him to break barriers, embrace leadership, and work toward a future where he can make a difference in the lives of others.
2024 marked half a decade since the inception of the Kambri Scholars Program, a milestone that reflects its profound impact on Indigenous students and communities.
The success of the past five years would not have been possible without the unwavering generosity of our donors, partners, and community members.
The impact of the Kambri Scholars Program extends beyond Tyler Madrill. It is transforming the lives of many scholars, empowering them to believe in their abilities and strive for excellence within their communities.

鈥淭he Kambri Scholars Program has made such a massive impact on my experience at ANU. Before I arrived, I felt a large sense of relief knowing that I was able to move and live on campus without the financial stress thanks to the scholarship. The Kambri Scholars Program made my transition to university easy and simple. Since arriving at ANU, I was easily able to make connections with the other Kambri scholars to develop new friendships and a sense of community within the first week. After being at ANU for just over a year, the semesterly trips home have allowed me to remain close with my family and have given me peace of mind knowing I can return home without the worry of flight costs. The Kambri Scholars Program has greatly simplified my experience at university from the day to day making it easier and more enjoyable as a whole.鈥
